How it works

A small, linear workflow — by design.

FinesDesk doesn’t try to replace the issuing agencies. It watches their public records for plates you operate, normalizes the data, and tells you what needs your attention.

01 — Upload

Bring your fleet.

Add plates, VINs, and state of registration via CSV paste or one-by-one. We hash and store only what we need to query sources.

02 — Monitor

We watch the sources.

We query supported public sources — currently NYC Open Data and NYS-published indices — on a daily cadence and on demand after you add a vehicle.

03 — Review

Read amounts and deadlines.

Each fine lands with its issuing source, calculation notes, amount, due date, and status — overdue, due soon, paid, or new.

04 — Pay or respond

You handle it at the agency.

Follow the direct link to the issuing agency to pay the fine, request a hearing, or submit documents. FinesDesk does not process payments.

One screen, all open fines.

A simple ledger: who issued it, what it costs, when it is due, and what to do next. No charts-for-the-sake-of-charts.

What you get

Practical features. No fluff.

The product does a small number of things, deliberately well.

Multi-source monitoring

We watch the publicly supported sources that publish plates, amounts, and deadlines — daily, with manual re-checks.

Deadline tracking

Each fine gets a due date and a status (overdue, due, paid, new) so the queue always answers “what needs attention first?”

Email digests

A daily or weekly email of new fines, deadlines, and what has already been paid — so you don’t have to log in to know.

Source citations

Every fine carries the source, the calculation notes it supplied, and a direct link to the issuing agency’s page.

Team-ready access

Invite ops managers, dispatchers, or outside accountants. Roles are scoped — nobody sees plates they shouldn’t.

REST API (soon)

Read-only access to your normalized fines so you can pipe them into a TMS, ERP, or your own reporting layer.

Coverage & limitations

Honest about what we cover.

Coverage is determined by the sources that publish plate-level data. We are precise about which sources we monitor, and clear about what we don’t promise.

Sources we currently observe

  • NYC
NYC Open Data — Parking & Camera Violations

Daily pull of published plate-level violations, including bus lane, no-standing, and expired meter.

  • NYC
NYC TLC — Fines & suspensions

Where the TLC publishes plate-indexed fines, we surface them with the agency notes.

  • NYS
    NYS Thruway Authority — Tolls

Toll-by-mail fines published via the Thruway billing portal; we surface only what they make public.

  • NYS
    NYS DMV — Red-light / school-zone camera

Where the publishing locality supports plate-level lookup. Not every county participates.

On coverage. We only show what each source publishes. The list above expands or contracts as sources publish more or less — we do not invent fields.

What FinesDesk does not do

  • We don’t promise 100% coverage.

If a source doesn’t publish plate-level data, FinesDesk can’t see it.

  • We don’t process payments.

You pay or respond directly at the issuing agency. We link you there.

  • We don’t provide legal advice.

FinesDesk is operations software, not a law firm. For disputes, consult counsel.

  • We don’t guarantee instant updates.

Refresh cadence is best-effort. Sources update on their own schedule.

  • We don’t guarantee savings.

Earlier visibility is not a discount or penalty reduction.

Frequently asked

Quick answers to honest questions.

If you don’t see what you’re looking for, ask us directly — we read every email.

Which sources do you actually monitor today?
Currently: NYC Open Data parking and camera violations, NYC TLC fines where published, NYS Thruway toll-by-mail, and NYS DMV camera-issued fines for participating localities. Source coverage changes as agencies publish more or less — we keep this list honest on the Coverage section above.
Do you pay fines on my behalf?
No. FinesDesk links you to the issuing agency’s page where payment or dispute submission happens. We never hold funds and we are not a payment processor.
Can you help me dispute a fine?
We surface the right place to submit a hearing request or document upload. FinesDesk is not a law firm and does not provide legal representation or advice. For complex disputes, consult a traffic attorney.
How fresh is the data?
Daily checks across all sources, with on-demand re-syncs after you add a vehicle or request a refresh. Each source has its own publication cadence — sometimes we see fines within hours, sometimes within a few days.
What data do you store about my fleet?
Plates, plate state, and an optional fleet label. We never store VINs unless you opt in. Data is encrypted at rest, scoped by team, and exportable as CSV at any time.
How do I get early access?
Drop your work email below. We onboard fleets of 5 vehicles and up, starting in NYC and expanding to NYS localities in waves.
Early access

Join FinesDesk. We onboard 8 fleets a week.

Bring your work email and an idea of fleet size. We’ll send a short onboarding note and a calendar link.
